Project history
Mining activities have been ongoing for a number of years in and near Boulder Creek. Mining activities have removed woody debris from the stream; exposed stream banks; removed riparian vegetation and created head cuts within the stream channel.

Specific measureable objectives
The reduction of stream sediment, re-establishment of riparian vegetation and increasing stream bank stabilization will be the measurable objectives for the project.

Brief schedule of activities
Biological need
Boulder creek is a tributary to Granite creek, which slows into the North Fork--John Day River. This river is important to Bull trout and supports the only natural run of salmon in the John Day River system.

Summary of expected outcome
The expected outcome will be improved riparian habitat conditions.
Dependencies/opportunities for cooperation
The project is supported by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. NEPA analysis has been completed.
Risks
There is a risk for not implementing the project. Sediment will continue to be introduced to the river from the road.
Monitoring activity
Post -project monitoring will be conducted by the Ranger District Fish Biologist and ODFW.
